Two Worlds Collide
For this assignment you will create a design that takes two unlikely subjects and bring them together in one space. Think about opposites that could make an interesting story for the viewer to look into and interpret. Consider adding elements of text to your design to show off both your design creativity and organizational hierarchy/Typography. Options:
*Remember Live Trace SIMPLE OBJECTS! (You do not need to draw everything free hand) *DO NOT MAKE MORE THAN 25% of YOUR DESIGN WITH THE LIVE TRACE TOOL! Goals: To be able to answer the following... 1. When does an image change from Vector and how do you keep it at least 600dpi? 2. How do save a document as a PDF? What properties does a PDF have? 3. What are the color harmonies/ how to choose one for this assignment? 4. How do you create organization with balance? 5. What is the rule of thirds and how can this be used to arrange elements in the design? 6. How to create a well drawn design in Illustrator with seamless lines and edges with a professional look. Requirements Rubric: *points will be deducted if any of the following are not met 10pts High Resolution 13 by 19 inches -(horizontal or vertical) -Minimum 600 dpi resolution -Saved as Adobe PDF file 10pts Chosen color scheme (limited to four colors with shades and tints) -Monochromatic (one color with shades and tints) -Triadic (three evenly spread in triangle formation) -Square ( four equally spread out) -Complimentary (directly across) -Split complementary (split directly across) -Analogous (three next to each other) 20pts Organized and interesting use of space using the rule or thirds. -sketch should show highly thought out space -balance should be achieved without complete symmetry 40pts High level use and function of Illustrator (Photoshop may accompany) -seamless lines and edges -well drawn and professional looking designs 20pts Creativity/ Use of time / Effort |
